Soil for seedlings

Peat soil for seedlings is a fully prepared nutritious high-moor peat for seedlings of vegetables (tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, zucchini, peppers, etc.), berries and flowers.

Seedlings can be grown either directly in closed ground, if the structure is heated, or separately – on a balcony, veranda or a special extension for a greenhouse.

Basic rules for growing seedlings

Lighting:

sunny. Additional lighting lamps

Container requirements:

reliable drainage holes and a tray for draining excess water. Rigid but fairly light material (wood or plastic). It is better not to place boxes with seedlings directly on the windowsill. You can make a wooden or foam backing. Containers with legs are also available for sale.

Landing:

the best time for planting seedlings is spring.

Sowing:

seeds are sown in pre-moistened soil and after sowing, covered with glass or transparent film to retain moisture.

Temperature:

is different for all seeds. But, in any case, after the emergence of seedlings, the temperature should be reduced by 2-3°C so that the plants take root better and only then continue to grow.

Water:

on hot days – in the morning and evening, in other cases two or three waterings per week are enough. It is necessary that the soil in the container with seedlings remains moist, but there is no stagnation of water.

Transfer:

Growing plants should be planted in individual cups to increase the feeding area and better illumination of each seedling.

Pick:

picking seedlings involves pinching the central root for better formation of lateral roots. With good care and sufficient light, most plants are ready for replanting at the stage of the first true leaf, although it is usually recommended to replant and pick when there are two to four leaves.

Hardening:

is done a few days before transplanting into open ground – this will help acclimate it to street conditions. It is important to increase your time outdoors gradually.

Transplanting into open ground:

during favorable weather conditions. The prepared hole is filled with the necessary fertilizers and shed generously with water. When the moisture is absorbed, the seedlings are carefully removed from the cup and, trying not to disturb the earthen lump, they are lowered into the hole, sprinkled with earth and compacted.
