History
The Oster peat deposit was explored by the Smolensk Governorate to provide raw materials for the Roslavl peat enterprise.
Additional reconnaissance was carried out by the Leningrad Division of Lengiptorf.
The peat deposit was developed using a machine-molding method (extraction of sod peat), and since 1952, using an industrial layer-by-layer-surface method using milling drums (extraction of milled peat).
Explored in detail by the Giprolegprom Institute in connection with the reconstruction of the enterprise.
On instructions from the Ministry of Fuel Industry, additional exploration was carried out by the Moscow geological exploration party for the exploration of peat deposits in order to clarify the remaining total peat reserves.
